Teacher by day, student by night.
I am me. Bekah. A grad-student extraordinaire. A procrastinator to the last mili-second. I like to bake and take pictures of everything. I tweet compulsively (@rlmorai) and am an open book.
My life right now is rather hectic as a struggling teacher by day and student by night. My twenty-three years have not fully prepared me to handle a classroom of students just six years younger than me… but… I am working on it.
My passion is for literature. And, sharing that passion is what I do. Language, art, digital literacies, social justice. I draw on my background and love of modernism and post-modernism as I think and plan to teach these young minds. I worry about lessons and if my students like me. I drive my pedagogical philosophy from these passions. I love, love, love what I do.
I drink my coffee extra sweet and tan at four a.m. at least once a week. As such, I may be a bit cranky at times. Mashed potatoes and Slurpees are my favorite. One flavor is not enough; I mix every flavor of Slurpee into one gargantuan Slurpee cup. Oh, the blue raspberry. White cherry, mmm. Coca-Cola, and then top it off with orange Fanta. I eat that sugary mass out of the cool spoon-straw that you always have to reach into a sticky bin to get.
Upstate New York doesn’t allow for much warm weather so that we can enjoy said activities of Slurpee slurpee-ing. But, the four seasons here are among some of the most beautiful you could possibly see. That is not the only reason that I live in this neck-of-the-woods. I grew up an East Coast gal. Rochester, NY is where I currently call home…. for now.
And that is, well, me — one random fact at a time.
Yours truly,
